On February 25, 2019, the Wayne County Board of Education took a historic step towards countywide redistricting by unanimously approving an Attendance Zone Rezoning proposal from Cropper GIS Consultants and McKibben Demographic Research. Work began this spring with the collection, analysis, and assimilation of data. Over the course of the summer a number of planning team meetings will be held.
In August 2019, Cropper GIS will hold its second Public Information Session. There, redistricting options will be presented to the community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share feedback and ask questions. This fall, WCPS hopes that final planning meetings will occur and final recommendations from Cropper GIS Consultants and McKibben Demographic Research can be presented to the Board of Education for its consideration.
The following site will serve as a repository for the Wayne County Public Schools Student Realignment Study, which is expected to be take effect in Fall 2020 (2020-21 School Year). This site is where any member of the public can access the materials that are being shared and considered by the committee.
On this site, you will be able to access and submit feedback on the online FEEDBACK FORM, where members of the public can provide input for the committee’s benefit.
Also, please keep an eye on the ONLINE INTERACTIVE MAP, to keep track of options that are being drafted as well as to better understand how the current zones are configured.
Watch for new materials for future meetings, which will be posted when they are available (usually the day of the meeting). We thank you for your input, and look forward to working with community and WCPS on this important project!
